WLCI's Professional programmes in Finance have a cross-disciplinary approach. In these programmes you will be introduced to various sub professions in Finance and develop competencies in managing and carrying out financial activities in business organisations. You will be given a thorough understanding of the processes and the skills required to become an effective and result-oriented finance professional.

You will gain a thorough understanding of the core functions, as well as, sub professions in Finance such as, Financial Accounting & Transaction Processing, Tax & Statutory Compliance, MIS & Budgetary Control and Audit, Financial Services, Treasury and Project Financing & Contract Management.

Professional Certificate I

At this level you will be provided with a conceptual framework and form an understanding of the processes required in two core functions in Finance, namely Accounting & Transaction Processing and Tax & Statutory Compliance. You will then have the option to choose to specialise in one of the following sub-professions, namely, Financial Services, Treasury or Project Financing & Contract Management.

Accounting & Transaction Processing

During this module you will gain a thorough knowledge of the principles and applications of financial accounting and transaction processes. You will learn how to prepare financial accounts, carry out analysis of financial statements alongwith the use of accounting packages and application of IT in accounting.

Tax & Statutory Compliance

You will develop an understanding of Tax & Statutory Compliances which are an integral part of Corporate Finance. During this module you will also learn and understand concepts of Taxation, Tax computation, application of Tax laws, legal implications, Indirect taxes and their application in business organisations.

Optional - Any One

Financial Services

During this programme, you will be able to pursue a career in the Financial Services sector and learn processes of sales of retail financial products particularly in the Banking and Insurance sectors. You will also be introduced to the concept of risk, risk management and be acquainted with futures and options.

Treasury

In this specialisation, we will help you acquire knowledge and abilities in building a career in Treasury. You will be introduced to the structure of Treasury and the methods of mobilizing resources. You will also gain knowledge on integrating various sources of treasury, liquidity management and regulations of various financial institutions.

Project Financing & Contract Management

During this module you will acquire an understanding of the role of the Project Division and learn the various steps from concept to commissioning of a project. You will be given an understanding of the role and responsibilities of a Project Head, multi-agency management and liasoning with various departments in an organisation. You will also learn project costing and accounting and form an understanding of handling international projects.



Professional Certificate II

At this level you will be provided with a conceptual framework and learn processes required in two other core functions in Finance, namely, Costing, MIS & Budgetary Control and Audit. You will then continue to be trained in the sub profession of your choice - Financial Services, Treasury or Project Financing & Contract Management.

Costing, MIS & Budgetary Control

In this core module you will learn the accounting aspect of costing, costing methods and techniques, as well as, cost analysis and MIS. You will be trained in the techniques of job and batch costing, contract costing, process and service costing and also in preparation of cost records. You will also be introduced to various types of budgeting and the concept of budgetary control.

Audit

In this module you will be introduced to processes of internal audit, the role of the auditor as well as the complete audit process. During this module you will gain knowledge about vouching, peculiarities of capital expenditure transactions, payments and receipts under FEMA. You will also be familiarised with Audit processes of profit-oriented businesses, charitable organisations, NGOs, Government Departments, cooperative societies and combined management audits.

Optional - Any One

Financial Services

During this programme, those of you who opt for careers in Financial Services will acquire an understanding of the functioning of Capital Markets and Investment Banking. You will be introduced to the concepts of Investment Banking, cash flow analysis, ratio analysis, valuation of companies (book value/market value), securities, options and money markets. You will also be acquainted with the regulatory framework of capital markets and be able to carry out portfolio analysis.

Treasury

At this advanced level you will gain knowledge about Integrated Treasury, bond dynamics, accounting valuation and the regulations that govern it. The module will focus on legislative restrictions and compliances, including regulations and supervision of treasury functions. You will also learn to negotiate with financial institutions, banks and international agencies and carry out accounting valuation as per regulatory guidelines.

Project Financing & Contract Management

In this sub profession, you will cover key elements of procurement, logistic and resource management. You will also develop an understanding of scheduling and monitoring a project by using various project management tools.
