Step by Step Planning

International universities continue to woo students from all over the world for quality education, multicultural environment and a holistic approach to learning .Indian students outdo numbers from any other country when it comes to studying abroad. Quite naturally, the path is fraught with anxiety and fear of rejection. A bit of smart, meticulous planning will do the trick for you.

The first step is to make an informed decision- beginning with the course of interest and then the country. Consider matching your goal and prospects with the zeroed in options. Find out when and how to apply. We suggest that you start much earlier than the start of application process. Keep the required documents and information handy. Thorough research before hand will prove beneficial.

The ideal time to apply varies from country to country, sometimes even course to course. For US, the process should start from April of the preceding year. For UK, October of the preceding year is Okay for UK and Australian admissions take place starting from August of the same year.

Another important question is how many universities to apply for? The answer lies in the capacity of the application and the budgets set aside by the student. Most universities in countries other than US and Canada do not charge application fee and therefore one could apply to as many as 10-15 at the same time. For US and Canada, the application fee ranging from 100- 200 dollars makes it practically impossible to apply to more than 5-8 universities, more so because the application fee does not in any way assure admissions.

Not just this, the application must be supported well with academic transcripts, recommendations from previous institutions and /or employers, statement of purpose, financial documents etc. etc. Foreign universities give a lot of weight age to all rounded candidature and give enough opportunity to students to balance out lack of any skill with meritorious performance in various fields. Most prestigious universities around the world, and specially all those in USA look for relevant scores over and above those from schools/colleges, like GMAT/GRE/SAT. Not to mention that IELTS/TOEFL are required to indicate a certain level of proficiency in English language for the sake of understanding the programmes with ease. Taking these tests early has its own advantages. One, it leaves you with enough room to improvise in case you lack the desired scores. Secondly, the validity being anywhere between 2-5 years leaves you with enough time to plan your studies while still in your home country better.
