Academic Council - Creative

Overview Business
WLC College has established an Academic Council for the Creative Schools. The Council defines and regulates academic standards for all Creative programmes of the College. The Academic Council meets bi-annually to upgrade and modify the curricula to meet industry requirements. The members of the Council review all creative programmes of the College to ensure high quality of academic delivery and determine plans for academic excellence. The Council also determines and verifies outcomes for the various modules taught in the programmes.

The Academic Council provides direction to the Board of Directors of the College in all matters pertaining to WLC's academic resources, programming, strategic planning, student affairs, and any other related academic issues.

 Ms. Anita Kaul Basu
Ms. Anita Kaul BasuMs. Anita Kaul Basu is the Managing Director of Synergy Communications. She started her career with India Today, where she worked for 5 years on the editorial staff. She was the Project Coordinator and later Executive Producer on path breaking shows like the Quiz Time series, the India Quiz series and the award winning show, Kaun Banega Crorepati. Ms. Basu was also the Executive Producer on the debate programme for Star Plus, A Question of Answers, and Style Today, a lifestyle programme produced for TV Today. She has been the Producer on Mastermind India & University Challenge telecast on BBC World, Bluffmaster & Heartbeat for Star One, Mum Tum Aur Hum for Star Plus and the most recent being Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa- Dancing with the Stars for Sony. She holds a Bachelors degree in English Literature from Miranda House, Delhi University. She has also completed her Post Graduation from the Indian Institute of Mass Communication.
 Prof. Rajeev Lochan
Prof. Rajeev LochanProf. Rajeev Lochan is currently the Director of the National Gallery of Modern Art. He is an eminent artist of international repute and his works have been widely exhibited both in India and abroad. His works adorn in several private collections and museums both in India as well as the other parts of the world. He is a recipient of the Japanese Government Research Scholarship (1985-87) and has also received the same scholarship in 1994. He also addressed the World Culture Forum in Japan in 2003.

He has received several awards, notably the National Akademi Award in 2000 and the Sahitya Kala Parishad Award in 1999. Prof. Lochan has also been awarded a Senior Fellowship by the Department of Culture, Government of India and is a National Scholar of the Ministry of Education and Culture as well as of UP Lalit Kala Akademi Scholar. He has travelled extensively and researched several aspects of art. Prof. Lochan has been an academician and has been on the Faculty of prestigious universities in India. He has also delivered lectures in reputed institutions in Japan. He graduated from the prestigious Faculty of Fine Arts, M. S. University, Baroda with a specialization in Creative Painting.
 Mr. James Ferreira
Mr. James Ferreira, acclaimed as the High Priest of Fashion in India is amongst the foremost fashion designers in the country with a rich and varied experience. James Ferreira is one of the pioneers in the fashion trade and entered the field of Fashion designing long before the designer boom began in India. He began his career as a fashion designer in 1964 and has worked with leading design houses and companies including Orkay Mills, where he worked in a team of international designers who created garments for export to Europe and London. He has been associated with leading companies and fashion boutiques such as Shalimar and Yasmeen Exports, Baba Saab, the high fashion men's boutique that creates garments for men like Amitabh Bachchan. He then worked with top British designer, Zandra Rhodes and on returning to India worked with designing houses including HHEC in Delhi, Kameeze, Touch Wood, JF, Anja Sanand GlitteratIIn Mumbai. His present assignments are with Eternia. He is the creative head for Kala Niketan for their garment outlets in India and UK.

Mr. Ferreira's skill in designing has been utilized by mills like Mafatlal, Raymonds and umpteen other fashion companies.
 Mr. Vikram Bawa
Mr. Vikram BawaMr. Vikram Bawa is an internationally acclaimed, renowned photographer from India. Rightly called as “Master of Gimmicks” in the world of fashion photography, he is probably the first photographer from the Asian sub-continent to venture into three-dimensional photography. Always striving to experiment, he adds that element of novelty even to ordinary pictures. He has worked with numberable celebrities, models, actors and brands.

Before he ventured into photography, Mr. Bawa completed his graduation in Mathematics and then went on to study law.
 Mr. Ashley Rebello
Mr. RebelloMr. Ashley Rebello, a versatile costume designer, has designed costumes for a number of Bollywood films including Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna, Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander, Josh, Fiza, and Pyaar Ke Side Effects.

He has worked with famous clients like Sushmita Sen, Aishwarya Rai, Tabu, Nandita Das, Namrata Shirodkar, Shilpa Shetty, Rinke Khanna, Sonali Bendre, Priya Gill, Lucky Ali and zNethra Raghuraman. He has also done a few American serials including 'Bold and Beautiful'. He has also worked with the director of Remington Steele and his latest work is the dress he designed for Nicole Kidman in 'Moulin Rouge.

He has explored every intricacy of high fashion and his collections always make news for their refreshing approach and feminine appeal.
 Prof. Narendra Srivastava
Prof. Narendra SrivastavaProf. Narendra Srivastava has been a professor at the College of Art for more than three decades. He has been closely associated with prestigious organizations and has designed the Pierre Cardin, SAARC symbol. He has also designed crockery for Rosenthal. He has won many awards including the Jawaharlal Nehru Fellowship for designing a type-face for Devnagari. He has had many solo shows, including one at the National Gallery of Modern Art and also at the National Museum of Modern Art, Nuremberg. He also founded the Centre for Graphic Art in Delhi.

He is a graduate from the College of Art, Delhi and has studied at the Ecole Estienne (Paris), where he researched on the form of the Devnagari script.
 Mr. Naved Akhtar
Mr. Naved AkhtarMr. Naved Akhtar started his career with Clarion Mc Cann. Later he helped set up Tara Sinha Advertising from where he moved on to Trikaya Grey, then India's most creative agency. Later he joined Mudra Communications, Delhi and put the agency on the creative map for the first time.

Mr. Akhtar is the only Indian Art Director to have won the prestigious Art Director of the Year award at 3 award shows, all in one year.He has won 5 Art Director of the year awards, and is the first Art Director to win the coveted Cag trophy in 7 years. He has also won two Gold awards at the New York Festivals and finalist certificates at Cannes, and was the first Indian team to win the Global Pegasus award. He has worked on award-winning campaigns for clients as diverse as Nescafe, Nestle, Polo, Bata, Yves Saint Laurent, Dunlop, The Times of India, HCL, Samsung, Vimal Suitings and Indian Express.
 Ms. Gayatri Khanna
Ms. Gayatri KhannaMs. Gayatri Khanna after graduating from Babson in 1997, she moved to New York and worked in various garment companies before getting a job at Saks Fifth Avenue as a buyer for designer wear. In May 2000, she went solo and incorporated Milaaya embroideries in India and USA. Currently, Ms. Khanna manages and operates Milaaya out of her three offices based in high fashion capitals of New York, Paris and Mumbai.

Extremely creative, Gayatri Khanna has made her mark on the high fashion scene in a very short span of time. Her collections are detailed and innovative and are made with exquisite fabrics and embellishments that have a global appeal. Ms.Khanna has served as a jury member and critic for student collections. Her inputs for students' work are practical and encouraging. She has also done embroidery for a number of brands including Versace and Gucci.
 Mr. Prasad Bidapa
Mr. Prasad BidapaMr. Prasad Bidapa, considered as India's fashion guru exports the Bangalore style to world destinations and has created a distinctive niche for himself in the Indian Fashion industry.

His projects like the India Men's Fashion Fair, held annually and the Kingfisher Fashion awards have put Bangalore on the International fashion map. He presents some of the largest Fashion events in India and his training programme for models is legendary for having created some of the biggest names in the Fashion and Film industry. His work as an Image and Fashion consultant has created a state of the art approach to retail fashion and branding exercises. He has worked with a number of high profile clients including Gucci, Titan, Levi-Strauss, Pringle and Provogue.
 Mr. Anil Manan
Mr. Anil MananMr. Anil Manan is the Vice President and Executive Creative Director for McCann-Erickson India Ltd. He is currently heading the Design Dynamics division of McCann-Erickson India. He initiated the first design communication studio in the advertising portfolio in India. He is the force behind the consumer contact communication platform for McCann-Erickson Accounts. He has 25 years of industry experience in handling FMCG brands and has strategized brand design for Coca Cola, Dabur, Milo, Perfect Tea, Nestle, General Motors and Master Card.

He is a graduate of Delhi College of Art and has a BFA in Applied Art from Delhi University.
 Mr. Prasad Namjoshi
Mr. Prasad NamjoshiMr. Prasad Namjoshi has a rich industry experience of over a decade in the fields of Production, Writing and Direction in Television. He also has over 8 years of experience in the teaching profession.

He is presently working at E-TV Marathi where he has handled various prime time serials as an Executive Producer. He also writes a weekly column 'ShortCUT' in the Sunday supplement of Daily Sakal. He has written a number of columns for “Wide Angle” and 'Arthamanthan', an economic biweekly published by Sakal Papers. He has also written a number of articles, poems and short stories in Marathi which have been published in leading dailies viz: Loksatta, Lokmat, Tarun Bharat, Kesari and different Diwali Special editions.
